Overall C&S Reflection

Overall C&S Reflection:

The value of C&S is unparalleled to other areas that we, as students have to deal with during our time at NIS. We have our academic expectations, and we have our social expectations, but what is also equally important is our expectations to contribute to the community by providing service in more than one way. The very nature of C&S challenges students to be the best they can, to experience the most that they can during their time here at Nanjing International School. Additionally, it teaches students to be active within the community and to change our surroundings, whether it be to grow plants, to organize events or even to plan tournaments.

And it is through my activities, that I have made an impact on society, contributing through action and through service to the community.

Through my active role in preparing for NISMUN and serving as their Assistant Secretary General, I have made this event at least somewhat more improved, and thus have allowed more delegates to enjoy it and more delegates to connect and engage with each other, people from other schools. It is also important when defining community to not only think of our community, the one in Xianlin University Area District, but also the global community. Then again, it can also be the school community, to which I have also helped provide service by letting a wide range of people connect and work together, and also have fun when competing in Inter-house events as my role as House Captain. In Video Review, I have also contributed to society, albeit in a role that I feel isn’t as important as I would have liked. Through my short clips more people will become aware of the awesome events that we organize here at NIS, and hopefully by watching the exciting parts, more people from the NIS community will come to participate in them.

To me, I believe that C&S should be implemented into other schools across China. In short, what it teaches us as humans is cooperate with each other, the community and to provide service to those around us. I hope that this semester I have increased my contribution to society, and also expanded my role that
